Ki Tavo starts off promising to bless the People Israel. All “the fruit of your womb (your children), the fruit of your soil (your crops) and the fruit of your animals (your lambs and calves)” will be blessed.
But if you don’t obey God’s commandments – oh boy! There will be all sorts of diseases: fever, blight, jaundice, blindness, boils.
There will be no rain.
Your carcass will be for eating!
Your animals and your children will be taken from you. You will go crazy!
Well, you get the idea. It’s pretty graphic.
Food for Thought
Do you think there was there a reason God was so graphic in his warnings? Could this be similar to the Christian idea of hell?
